YIPPEE!! I just got offered to teach another class. Well, two classes actually. I'll be adding another Zumba to my schedule as well as 24 Dance. Both are 30 minute classes, one right after the other. I'm really enjoying teaching Zumba, so this is another great opportunity. 24 Dance is any kind of dance, really. I'll probably be doing a lot of Hip Hop Hustle, but also adding in other types of dance too. I'm super excited!

Can I get a 'woot, woot' for my new class?!
Yay hooray! I have been given a regular TK class at 24! Wednesdays, 10:30 am, starting in November. I'm super excited! The members at 24 seem to have a great love for TK, or as they call it there, TKB. It's nice to have this opportunity. I can't wait to get started with it!

Call me highly qualified?
These past two weekends, I spent at 24 Hour Fitness training to teach resistance classes. Give me a couple of weeks and hopefully I'll feel comfortable enough to teach people how to lift weights. Doesn't sound that hard, does it?
I'm also in the process of trying to teach Zumba. Lucky for me, MVAC is letting me teach without a Zumba certification right now, but I really want to get certified soon anyway. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! Without being certified, I need to choreography my own routines, which could be tricky. Hopefully I'll be able to do this by November. If not, I may just have to suck it up and do the certification. I just have to convince my husband that it's a good idea. Good luck eh?

More Qualifications
So last night I registered to become certified to teach Resistance classes at 24 Hour Fitness. I'll be going to the training in a couple of weeks and I'm totally excited! I'm also going to be doing my Spinning certification next month. Maybe I'll turn into the totally fit chica that I want to be! Every little bit helps, right?

It's Only Going to Get Worse...or Better...or Worse
Looking back at old posts, I read that I feel totally worn out when I've taught 5 classes a week in the past. Well, the past two weeks have been 7 classes per week weeks. Is that good or bad? Well, I guess a little of both. I get completely worn out, but it's good at the same time. I've been loving the subbing opportunities that I've been getting at 24. I've taught TK (they call it TKB at 24) and I've also subbed a little HHH. The members are great and they seem to really like my classes.
The next two months are going to be busy with more training. I'm going to be going through the Resistance Training course with 24 to be able to teach weight training based classes there. Additionally, I'm going to hopefully be getting certified to teach Spinning through Mad Dogg at MVAC. Since our club is hosting the training, my manager has said that if we get enough people to sign up for the training, we get to send one instructor for free. She has totally offered that to me! What an incredible experience. With all of this training, I will be able to teach at 24 and MVAC. I'll be certified in resistance, TK, HHH, and Spin. I'm sure I'll be looking back at this post and laughing that I thought 7 was a lot. Maybe I'll have weeks where I'll be teaching even more.

Teaching and teaching and teaching, oh my!
So I'm now teaching 5 classes a week. Four at MVAC, and one at church. Now that I'm officially an employee of 24 Hour Fitness, I'll hopefully start teaching there more too. I've already signed up for my first two subbing classes. One next week and the week after. I'm stoked for this new opportunity at 24 and I look forward to maybe furthering my certifications through them. Maybe all this teaching will get my butt into shape. You know, a shape that I want. Small and round.

New Job
I went to 24 yesterday and auditioned for the Group X Manager. She had told me through email that I would probably be auditioning for 20 minutes or so, but I ended up only showing her about 10. She had great input and great things to say about my performance. It's nice to have someone really evaluate my TK teaching since I've never really had that before.
It'll take a couple of weeks to get everything processed, but then I will be an actual employee at 24. I'll just be subbing at first, but hopefully if there's an opening soon, I may get my own class.
I'll still continue to teach my 4 classes at MVAC, but this is a great way to be able to teach a little bit more while also being able to watch other instructors to see how they do things.
Yay for me!

Kickin' Butt and Taking Names
So on Tuesday, I worked out...a lot! I taught TK in the morning at church, in the evening at the gym, and then after my TK class, I stayed and did Spin for an hour. The good thing is I burned over 1600 calories the whole day doing all my stuff. Pretty impressive, no? Needless to say, I got home that night and crashed. My body was exhausted!
Last night was a night of HHH and staying after for Zumba. So much fun! I still heart Zumba!
Tomorrow I'm off to 24 Hour Fitness to audition to teach TK there. I'm not nervous about the actual audition, although it will be a little weird. The Group X Manager said, "I'll be the only one in the room, but I want you to pretend like you're teaching to a room of 50!" Well, here goes nothin'.

3 Turbo's, 2 Days
I've been a busy Turbo'er these past two days. I taught TK yesterday at church in the morning, and then again at MVAC. Jill, my mangager at MVAC, wants to add another TK class on Thursday nights at 5:30. I think that we will probably start that in October. That would be great...two classes of my very own. There was about 18 people in my class last night. The place was packed! I think that's the most that has been there yet. Usually there is about 12-15, but it was great yesterday. I went to 24 this morning and did some team teaching with Kelly. She's been a great mentor. I look forward to auditioning for the 24 manager, once we find out if we're going to be here for a while. Tomorrow I'm going to be back on the treadmill. I've gotta finish Titanic!

Mentoring
I went to 24 today and taught with Kelly, one of the greatest group fitness instructors I've ever seen! It was awesome. I got some really good feedback from her. I feel like I'm getting better with my cueing, but my biggest challenge right now is varying my voice tone. I feel like I'm monotone the entire time I teach, so I need to raise the bar! I've been jotting down some inspirational shout outs and things to say, so hopefully I can get that excitement in my tone to make my class a fun one, but still challenging, while remembering the choreography and counting all at the same time. Oh yeah, all while trying to breathe and not fall over dead. This is a lot harder than I ever thought it would be, but I'm loving it, so that's really what it's all about. Now if I can just convince my already tired legs to put in a few miles on the treadmill tonight, I'll be golden. Honestly, it's mostly a mental thing. So if I can tell myself good thoughts for the rest of the day (and if I can sneak a cat nap in this afternoon), then maybe I'll be ready to put on my Friends DVD's and run!

Good Intentions
So, I totally had good intentions for running yesterday, but I let my day get consumed by grocery shopping, presidency meetings, and being a mom. I didn't run today because I went to church aerobics this morning, and then I taught TK tonight. They are probably going to add one more class for me on Thursday nights. That would be awesome.
I'm going to 24 Hour Fitness tomorrow to team teach with Kelly. She's a great instructor there, and a terrific Turbo Kicker! I'll be fun. After tomorrow there with her, I'm going to set up an audition with the Group X manager, and hope that I'm able to get a class or two there, or on the subbing list. I love this new phase in the life that I call mine.
