This morning BFM and I did our regular routine of kicking our own butts while we were at the gym. We do circuit type training in the gymnasium that includes, lunges (I think we did a billion), push-ups, box jumps, jump rope, mountain climbers, and squats. It's seriously the best way to start the week.
Tonight was an awesome Zumba class. We had a great positive energy in the room. That always makes Zumba the best. I love loud students who will whoop and holler with me and shout, "ZUMBA" on their own. It's amazing!
This week starts our week #2 in marathon training. We're waking up early tomorrow to run our 3. It seems like such a short run, but it'll be nice to get it in early and get it over with. After running, we'll fit in some weight training. Every time I lift, I love it more and more.
I gotta keep working hard to get my body looking good for Hawaii in just over a month.
Here's to a good week.

New Town, New Gym
After the hiatus I've taken from blogging, I think I'm officially committing to start up again. We'll see how that goes.
Well, we're all settled in in Great Falls, Montana. I got hired to work at The Peak Health and Wellness Center. It's a great gym! There are so many things there and it's huge. Last week was my first week teaching and it felt so good to be instructing a class again. I don't think they've really had an instructor like me before. I tend to be a little crazy in the way I teach and the way I dress, but I think they're liking it. Right now I've got two Zumba classes and one Turbo Kick. I'm actually introducing Turbo to The Peak, so hopefully it'll go well. I'm also introducing Hip Hop Hustle to the gym. I got my official certification for Spinning after I send in my test a couple of weeks ago. I'm really going to try and start teaching that too.
Today, I went to the gym and recorded a 3 1/2 minute clip of me promoting Hip Hop Hustle. It'll show on TV soon, and I'll post the clip once I get it. I've never been on TV before, so I'm pretty excited.

Relocating, break from Zumba
Brandon has recently gotten a really good job offer working in Great Falls, Montana. We'll be moving in three days. The whole thing has come up really fast, but it's really exciting. Today was my last Zumba class here in California. It was so sad to leave so many great people. So many people have told me such great things about how I've affected them in a positive way. It feels really good to know I've inspired and helped others. I can't wait to get to Montana and start teaching again. I'm hoping that the gym there needs Zumba instructors. Worst case scenario, I could teach church aerobics again for a little while. Time will tell.
I ran 5 miles with Heidi this morning and it was awesome! Another thing on my list of 'to-do's' is to find a running partner once we get to Montana. We're going to be entering into the drawing to see if we will be chosen to run the St. George marathon. I say "we" and I mean me and a few of my friends. I really think I need a race to get me motivated to run again.

Busy and Tired
So my current teaching schedule has 7 classes in it. Whew...it's a lot, but it's great! Although we burn lots of calories during Zumba, it's probably the easiest thing to teach since it really does just feel like a party, and that I'm out dancing with a group of friends. If I was teaching 7 Turbo Kick classes a week, I think I'd be a lot more tired and it would definitely be more of a challenge.
My only downfall right now is that I'm not getting enough sleep. I've been staying up way too late, watching TV, not really doing anything productive. This week I've been preparing for our upcoming Enrichment activity next week, so I've been up late doing little projects for that. But I know that if I went to bed by 10pm I'd feel much better through the day. Once Enrichment is over, I'm going to really make it a point to get to bed earlier.

Another One
YIPPEE!! I just got offered to teach another class. Well, two classes actually. I'll be adding another Zumba to my schedule as well as 24 Dance. Both are 30 minute classes, one right after the other. I'm really enjoying teaching Zumba, so this is another great opportunity. 24 Dance is any kind of dance, really. I'll probably be doing a lot of Hip Hop Hustle, but also adding in other types of dance too. I'm super excited!

Zumba, Zumba
I'm officially certified to teach Zumba now. I've been teaching it for about a month now, but now I actually have my certificate. I'm teaching two Zumba classes a week, and hoping to get more soon. I really want to market myself to maybe start teaching Zumba at more facilities. I'm kind of on a high with Zumba right now. I've been getting pretty bored with teaching TK, so it's nice to have something fresh to revive my energy. YAY for Zumba!

Zumba and Cheerleaders. Not at the same time...
So I taught my first Zumba class this past week. It went alright, I messed up a couple of times, but nothing major. It's going to be a fun one to teach, especially once I get more comfortable with it. The people that come to that class are awesome, so I know it'll be a great time slot to have. Apparently at the gym, Zumba is one of their most popular classes, so the owner wants to add more of those classes. Starting in November, I'm going to have a different schedule, teaching 3-4 classes.
Things at 24 are looking up a bit too. It looks like I might be getting the opportunity to have a couple of my own permanent classes. More on that later.
So through one of my connections at the gym I've gotten the opportunity to teach the local Paloma cheerleaders a dance that they'll be performing at their football game in two weeks. I'll get some video footage of all the action and post that later. I'm going to practice today to teach them some pretty awesome moves. I'm super excited...brings me back to my cheerleader days. I'll have to snag one of my old pictures and post it. Just need to find a scanner.

Call me highly qualified?
These past two weekends, I spent at 24 Hour Fitness training to teach resistance classes. Give me a couple of weeks and hopefully I'll feel comfortable enough to teach people how to lift weights. Doesn't sound that hard, does it?
I'm also in the process of trying to teach Zumba. Lucky for me, MVAC is letting me teach without a Zumba certification right now, but I really want to get certified soon anyway. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! Without being certified, I need to choreography my own routines, which could be tricky. Hopefully I'll be able to do this by November. If not, I may just have to suck it up and do the certification. I just have to convince my husband that it's a good idea. Good luck eh?

Kickin' Butt and Taking Names
So on Tuesday, I worked out...a lot! I taught TK in the morning at church, in the evening at the gym, and then after my TK class, I stayed and did Spin for an hour. The good thing is I burned over 1600 calories the whole day doing all my stuff. Pretty impressive, no? Needless to say, I got home that night and crashed. My body was exhausted!
Last night was a night of HHH and staying after for Zumba. So much fun! I still heart Zumba!
Tomorrow I'm off to 24 Hour Fitness to audition to teach TK there. I'm not nervous about the actual audition, although it will be a little weird. The Group X Manager said, "I'll be the only one in the room, but I want you to pretend like you're teaching to a room of 50!" Well, here goes nothin'.

I Heart Zumba!
So our gym is starting a new class called Zumba. The instructor did a preview class yesterday and it was AWESOME!! It's a Latin dance type of a workout. It was so fun and I'm actually sore today. I would love to add that to my list of things that I want to get certified in, but I think that other things need to come first. Spin is my top priority, even though it's not a huge priority, but it'll happen eventually. Maybe after Spin and my AFAA group teaching cert, I can head for Zumba. If you ever get a chance to take a Zumba class, do it!
